Mount Etna, Sicily – Sea to Summit

The Challenge

This walk to Mount Etna, the highest mountain in Sicily is exceptional in that it takes you from sea level to the summit of Mount Etna with commanding views over a large area.

Day 1

We fly to Sicily and are taken to our hotel where we rest and enjoy the summer sun.

Day 2

We start our trek from sea level slowly winding our way up Europe’s highest mountain and stopping along the way for food and drinks, sampling the Sicilian food. Our guide is local and will give us the information as we walk up the mountain and get an insight into its history.

We stop for the night and are taken back to our hotel.

Day 3

We resume our walk from where we left it the previous day and continue to the summit of Mt Etna. We explore the mountain and admire the views of all the surrounding area as we pass the snow line.

Day 4

On reaching the summit we then have a long descent of around 2500m back to sea level. We finish the trip with a celebration dinner to mark our achievement.

Day 5

We return home, saying our goodbyes to the people but the experience and memories will be with us for years to come.
