5 Peaks Challenge

The Challenge

This challenge encompasses the 5 highest peaks in the 5 countries of the British Isles in 5 days, Snowdon, Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis, Slieve Donard and Carrauntoohil. The scenery, given a good day is stunning whichever peak you are heading for. We start by ascending Snowdon then its all systems go as we head for The Lake District and Wasdale where we ascend Scafell Pike. From here we are transported to Fort William in Scotland to climb Ben Nevis. Next we go to catch a ferry to Northern Ireland where we head for Newcastle and climb Slieve Donard. Finally we have a long journey south to Killarney in Southern Ireland to climb Carrauntoohil.

This is a constantly moving event and time restricted to some extent, so throughout the trip you will be supplied with sandwiches and hot meals where possible, but in any event there will be lots of food to keep the body supplied with energy.

We will be camping the first and the last night and participants can either arrive in their own cars and leave them parked for the event or arrive by train/coach etc, returning the same way.

We arrive on campsite in Snowdonia during the evening then start next morning. It will consist of 4 full days, arriving back at our base camp early evening of 5th day.

A train pick up will be arranged if you ask us.

Mountainous as you would expect. Can be extremely wet, boggy, some scrambling and rocky. Any or all mountains can be covered in low cloud with torrential rain at any time.
