The Challenge
On this event we will be camping in 2 person tents and enjoying the outdoor life to its fullest extent over the 2 days. Meeting around 5-6pm on the Friday evening you have time to settle into your tent before the evening meal and briefing of the weekend’s event.
Day 1, we start at Durlston Head and walk to St Alban’s Head where we pass several old caves from former mine workings. Continuing around the cliffs on the undulating route, we have excellent views of the coastline towards Weymouth. We finish day 1 at Kimmeridge Bay then return to the campsite for a well-earned rest before dinner.
Day 2 we return to Kimmeridge Bay and continue along the coastal path. Viewing the sea birds and the rocky inlets and ledges as we proceed. Eventually after walking the undulating path with its magnificent scenery, we arrive at Lulworth Cove where the walk finishes and we are taken back to the campsite. Walkers will be tired but elated with the fantastic weekend and experience!
We can pick up from the railway station in Wool on Friday evening and return you there on the Sunday PM after the walk. Please email or telephone for details of pick-ups before booking a train.
The route is undulating so walkers should have some degree of fitness. Much of the route consists of walking on short grass but there are several places with long flights of steps up and down. With just a reasonable amount of fitness, walkers should be able to walk the 24 miles over the 2 days.
There are points on the route where the minibus will meet the group so anyone who has any problem can miss a section if they need to.
