Scafell Pike

The Challenge

Scafell Pike is one of the National 3 Peaks and if you have already walked Ben Nevis or Snowdon then this mountain is the next in line. Situated in the Lake District, overlooking Wastwater, this mountain is generally approached from either Wasdale Head or from Seathwaite.

We walk from Wasdale Head ascending the valley as shown in the photo below to the pike at the top.

We meet at 9.30am on the green at Wasdale Head where we are briefed on the days walk and the necessary equipment check done before starting our ascent.

Stopping for photographs and to admire the views on route, (low cloud permitting), we walk alongside the beck then nearing the higher slopes, we head over the rocks and stony area to finish the ascent on the summit of Scafell Pike at the ‘trig’ point.

After stopping for lunch just off the summit, we return to Wasdale Head before leaving for our campsite a short distance away and a celebration evening meal.

We leave the campsite around 10am the following day to make our way home. Limited transport is available to Kendal or Lancaster to connect with a train or coach for your return journey home. Please ask ASAP.
