The Challenge
The Yorkshire coastal path is an excellent walk which is divided into 8 sections, starting from Redcar and continuing to Spurn Point. On this trek, we cover the longest section which is 20 miles and takes approximately 8-9 hours.
Leaving Whitby we walk along undulating cliffs on part of the Cleveland Way and pass through Robin Hoods Bay and Ravenscar on our trek.
The views from the cliff tops are excellent as we pass old ironstone and alum workings on route.
En-route we stop for two breaks where snacks and drinks will be provided.
We finish near the Sea Life Centre in Scarborough where a hot meal will be provided and transport to return you to Whitby.
Terrain
It is an excellent walk on mainly grass and small stone paths with superb views of the coastline.
Generally fairly flat but slightly undulating in parts and includes three short steep climbs between Robin Hood’s Bay and Scarborough.
